Depending on what channel you watch. Weird. Yet another example of how modern technology allows us to see the limitations of other modern technology. New Years Resolutions: 1. Fix truck or buy new one posthaste. 2. Wash paintbrushes promptly 3. give the dog a bath 4. wash clothes regularly instead of wearing the same pair [...]

We Noticed Some Temporal Discrepancies In Ball Dropping
Published December 31st, 2006 in Daily. 0 CommentsHer: Is this movie going to be a complete downer? Me: I don’t think so. Alice Walker books tend to be upbeat in the sense that everyone is ground down throughout the story, suffering many travails, then triumph in the end and paint their houses purple.
Me: … hang on while I wash my brushes.* It’s my New Year’s Resolution. Her: That’s right. You’ll wash your brushes and I’ll eat more fruit. * wash my paintbrushes daily rather than leaving them in a bucket of solvent for each night for weeks at a time
Guess who’s moving back in downstairs? That’s right. It’s the Cello Playing Boyfriend. Now we can return to the days of piano/cello duets and screaming arguments instead of the long weary nights of Sad Single Downstairs playing the recorder at 2 AM. What could be nicer than that?
An Open Letter To The Cat Regarding His Morning Behavior
Published December 29th, 2006 in Daily. 0 CommentsDear Cat, You have been with me for five years. In that time you have: 1. peed on one couch, destroying* it 2. peed on two papa san cushions, destroying* them 3. by this behavior required that blankets be placed on all furniture at all times And I love you anyway. I have decided that [...]
Today has been tough. Here are the highlights, or rather the lowlights. -Truck motor throws a rod: $4000 repair. Ouch. -New Years reservation, only affordable due to discount because sibling works for Marriott, canceled when hotel fills up and must pay full price. Sad. So I’ve relieved my feelings by filling the netflix queue with [...]
Today we went to the National Gallery of Art before getting lost on the way to Trader Joe’s after which the day ended in tears. Here’s a picture of me with Ginevra de Benci. And here is our parking spot in front of the National Gallery of Art. Freakishly close! Well not freakishly, because really [...]
The Burbs were pretty pale this year, Christmas Lights speaking. But not this house in Vienna, VA. Take 66 to Nutley St exit, continue on Nutley St. House is 1 block past 123 (Maple Ave) on Nutley.
Today is Christmas Eve. Yesterday I began my Christmas shopping at Tyson’s Corner Mall and discovered that another benefit of driving a huge rustbucket is the ease of stealing parking spots from yelling men in Honda coupes. For shame. It was pretty bad, but it’s not as black-hearted as it sounds. And he didn’t have [...]
Do you ever find yourself making insane lists about inconsequential subjects? I do. I’ve been dithering about which car to up to DC for the holidays. Well to be more precise, I have not been dithering. I have been strongly encouraged by the little lady not to take the elderly gashog truck but I want [...]
Available at Target. Also the Full Frontal version.
This is from CNN.com: Denver International Airport — the nation’s fifth-busiest — was expected to begin limited operations at noon Friday, almost two days after a blizzard forced it to close runways. More than 2,000 flights have been canceled, according to airline officials, creating a ripple effect that disrupted air travel around the country as [...]
Location: Outside the Apartment Activity: Closing the Door Active Party: Her Her: The door is just getting harder and harder to close! It must be warped. Me: Uh… (laugh uncontrollably)
Today the transgendered postal worker called to me, “Ma’am? Ma’am?” This hasn’t happened in years. Well, actually it probably has, but not with any frequency. I mean, I am extremely rugged and stereotypically masculine. I thought about asking him (or is it her?) if I could take some pictures of his/her Cute Christmas Earrings but [...]
