The insane upstairs neighbors are back at it. I was concerned they might have developed a conscience or something which was preventing them from hurling their garbage off their balcony into the grass, but I am relieved to see that I was wrong. Maybe they just did not go out on the balcony as much [...]

Her: I hope you don’t foster the opinion that women deserve to be sexually harassed for dressing like sluts. Me: Uh… I thought when you said, “foster” that you were going to talk about kittens. Her: No. You can’t foster kittens and you can’t foster opinions.
So the movie theatre had its grand re-opening this weekend with alleged free tickets and free popcorn for Virginia Tech students and staff and just like approximately 1 gazillion other people we thought it would be fun to take advantage of this. Damn. Were we wrong.
We were having a discussion about Irigary, a feminist philosopher, and since it was the last day of class, and we weren’t responsible for the material, most of the people who tend to both a. participate in discussion and b. have a clue, did not attend. So it was basically a free for all in [...]
Dearest Aaron, I have hung your paintings in my home, where they coordinate perfectly with the spare modern furnishings and also the dogs. The Bedroom: The Living Room: I think this was meant to be. Don’t you? Sincerely, Kevin Inman Concerned Citizen, Dog Lover, and Art Aficionado
Location: The Art Building- Music Area Music Nerd 1: It is key that I go get some lunch. Music Nerd 2: What key? A flat? Crowd of Music Nerds: (raucous laughter)
Noisy and crazy people fill the office. I maintain my composure but groan to myself. I wish that guy had not knocked over my coffee. O Cubicles of Doom.
So this semester I took a photography class. I pretty much wandered around with my camera and took 2700 pictures. I loaded a bunch of those to flickr, obviously, and then cobbled together this RSS frankenstein to display them. I think it’s kick-ass. Let’s hope Professor Kevin Smith thinks so too, so I don’t have [...]
Often I have sat at my desk in my air conditioned office bemoaning the terrible fate of having a good-paying job that does not involve lots of grueling physical activity. And I have often thought that I might pursue some other fascinating career such as workin’ on the railroad. Fortunately today our friends at CNN.com [...]
Tonight I was spray-fixing my drawings for critique on Wednesday. I hate spray fix because it smells horrible, causes cancer in laboratory animals, gets everywhere, and drips annoyingly on your drawings. Plus it doesn’t even really stop the drawings from smearing. Basically, spray fix = disaster. But still, madness lies in the other direction from [...]
In the past 24 hours I have been famously productive and have: 1. Completed my semester project for photography class, which is totally kick-ass and which I will be adding to the site soon. 2. Printed out and scribbled all over Draft 2 of my term paper about contemporary art- only 1 week late. 3. [...]
Her: Here is the duvet. (Subtext: Wrestle the giant comforter into the duvet. Do it now.) Me: Ut Prosim*. Her: What does that even mean? Me: (in surprise) Actually, I have no idea. * VT motto. What does it mean?** ** Something like “That I may serve.”
The really difficult thing about these shootings is that, well, everybody I know in this town was directly affected by it. For the first couple of days, we were all just paralyzed by the events and kept to ourselves. But now that we’ve start getting together, of course all we can talk about is the [...]
Me: (looking online) So they have a new… Her: YES? Me: Kind of Aussie hair product* for curly hair. Her: I totally thought you were going to give me new information on the West AJ Killer. Me: No. *Backstory: The coconut scent of the recently reformulated Aussie moist hair shampoo and conditioner gives me a [...]
Today I had class at Radford, 15 miles away from Blacksburg, and the difference in the atmosphere was incredible. The school shootings were still a major topic of conversation and everyone was stressed. But, Radford was a much less scary and emotional place to be. This is the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) show opening. [...]
